Warcom Slogan Competition Update

2 weeks ago we sent out a newsletter and created this blog post about a competition to create our new slogan. Over the last few weeks we have received more than 150 entries into the competition and today we would like to provide you with an update.

Unfortunately none of the slogans tickled managements fancy so we will not be using any of them for the final slogan. We will however be giving away 3 $10 prizes for 3 slogans we found amusing or creative. Below are all the entries that we received, have a look and if you think we were wrong and there is a winner here, be sure to let us know.

We will also keep the competition open for as long as possible until a user can come up with a slogan that we use, or we finalize one and post about it on our blog.

Warcom’s Youtube Channel Revival

So lately at Warcom we have been talking about getting weekly videos out to our subscribers on our Blog, Facebook, Twitter, Google and our Newsletter.

Our team have decided to start getting things ready so that in a few weeks we will be able to start pumping out some sweet videos out to you all via our YouTube channel (go ahead and get a head start by subscribing!). We were looking for an area to film these videos at Warcom Headquarters and we found the perfect area in our HQ to do so. At the moment it doesn’t look like much, there are still a few pieces of boarding in front that need to be moved and a few coats of paint are required so its a work in progress.

There are still a few things that we still require before we start producing these videos. We will be purchasing some things in the next few weeks, we require Lighting, a Warcom Banner and a Video Camera. As we start to build our set we will blog this to you, giving you a sneak peak of what we are up to.

We hope to be able to start producing YouTube Videos within the next month, so keep on the look out for our videos.

Our videos will consist of:

  • Product Reviews – Reviews of our most popular products.
  • New Products – Showing off products that are new to Warcom!
  • Unboxings – You have all seen these before, unboxings of new products to get a first have look at what they are.

Help us make a new slogan and win $50

Here at Warcom we are constantly making changes to help users better navigate and use our website. Over the next few weeks we will be rolling out new features, such as better navigation and search, improved usability and a new groovy looking design in order to help our customers better find what they are looking for.

As a part of this process we also want to update our slogan as we feel it is a bit dated and could better describe what we do (and of course our excellent prices and service). Rather than leaving our loyal customers out of these processes we would like to include you, and pay you for your ideas!

Until Tuesday April 30th we are running a competition in which anyone, member or not, can be in the running to Win $50!

All you need to do is send us your ideas for a good slogan. You can send up to 3 slogans by commenting below. Our staff will choose the best one and if we decide to use it for the site we will give you a $50 coupon to spend at Warcom. For others that we find amusing we are also willing to give 5 other people $10 each based on how creative, humorous, useful or unique their slogans are.

Some ideas we have come up with so far are:

We’re excited to kick off our first ever Australian Pinterest challenge, a “Pin It to Win It!” competition where you can win $250 to spend at Warcom to help freshen up your home office space!

Basic Overview – How does it work?

It’s easy!

Fructose Malabsorption in the Office!

Hi guys,

While this little write-up doesn’t have anything to do with our great range of networking and computer equipment, it should still make for an interesting read!

Among a few other conditions which the staff here at Warcom may or may not possess, at least two of us have a fructose malabsorption issue.

You may be suprised to hear that at least two people in a small business have this condition, but apparently you shouldn’t be. According to Wikipedia, Fructose malabsorption is found in up to 30% of the population of Western countries and Africa!

If you don’t know, Fructose malabsorption is basically an issue wherein the absorption of fructose is impaired by deficient fructose carriers in the small intestine’s enterocytes. This results in an increased concentration of fructose in the entire intestine and can cause any of the following symptoms:

  • Bloating
  • Diarrhea and/or constipation
  • Flatulence
  • Stomach pain
  • Vomiting
  • Nausea
  • Aching eyes
  • Fuzzy head
  • Fatigue

Fructose!

To avoid these issues, a balanced and fructose-free diet is recommend. Below is a list of recommended foods, to eat, eat in moderation, or not to eat for people with Fructose malabsorption.

Safe to eat – Grapefruit, Lemon, Lime, Celery, White potatoes, pumpkin, spinach, gluten-free bread, gluten free pasta, cornflakes, oatmeal, porridge, white rice, rice noodles, fresh meat or fish, seafood, eggs, nuts, milk, yoghurt, cheese, tea, coffee.

Eat in Moderation – Bananas, Avocado, stone fruit, oranges, pineapple, carrots, cauliflower, mushrooms, onions, sweet potatoes, zucchini, asparagus, wheat, biscuits, noodles, pasta, nuts, garlic, cranberry juice.

Avoid Eating – Most sugars, apples, cherries, grapes, mango, melon, pears, jam, green pepper, cabbage, lettuce, tomatoes, brown rice, sweeten breakfast cereal, processed meat/fish, sweetened milk products, ice-cream, most sauces, most fruit juices, alcohol.

If you experience any of these symptoms after eating some of those foods, best head off for a hydrogen breath test; the method currently used for a clinical diagnosis of fructose malabsorpation.

Lucky for us Warcom guys, this issue does not effect our ability to provide our usual level of great service and our products are completely fructose free (except perhaps for the Warcom Free Lollies).
