The Vigor 2820 series is a Dual Wan Router, it is also a universal router for ADSL, cable, 3G mobile and satellite. It has an ADSL2/2+ built-in and a second WAN port that can take on any broadband access, including ADSL2/2+, cable or satellite broadband. Like its Vigor2800 predecessor, a USB 2.0 port allows connection with a 3G HSDPA broadband modem. This flexible second WAN port and/or USB port allows diversification of broadband accesses, ensuring full service availability in mission critical operations. The dual WAN can work in separate, load balance or failover modes. One of the four Ethernet port is a Gigabit Port allowing faster sharing of larger files, such as video or media documents among network users.

The Vigor 2820 series has IGMP protocol and full multi-PVCs for IPTV applications, 32 tunnels of hardware-based VPN, and Vigor2820Vn supports 2 x FXS and 1 x FXO ports for VoIP.

The Wireless model, Vigor2820n and Vigor2820Vn, has 802.11n Draft 2.0 technology, with up to 300Mbps throughput and four SSIDs (service set identifiers) for more flexible wireless grouping.

From our own customer experiences, to get the most stable line connection with the fastest possible uploads/downloads speeds from this adsl modem on an ADSL2/2+/ Annex M connection, we recommend you use ACS line filters on ALL phones and faxes that are connected into the same phone line as your modem is on.

These ADSL line filters will remove all noise, static, and clicks from the line, which would normally force your modem to communicate at a slower rate.

Please note: If using the USB port on this unit for 3G fallover as your primary source of broadband connection, it is advised that you contact us and discuss the compatibility of your 3G USB modem. There currently exists some speed throttling issues with a small number of models. These issues are being rectified one by one through firmware upgrades and generally don't create any problems.
