This unit has an ADSL2/2+ built-in modem and a second WAN port that can take on any broadband access, including ADSL2/2+, cable or satellite broadband. Like its Vigor2800 predecessor, a USB 2.0 port allows connection with a 3G HSDPA broadband modem.

This flexible second WAN port and/or USB port allows diversification of broadband accesses, ensuring full service availability in mission critical operations.

The Dual WANs can work in separate, load balance or failover modes. One of the four Ethernet ports is a Gigabit port allowing faster sharing of larger files, such as video or media documents among network users.

With support for the IGMP protocol and full multi-PVCs functions (both are required for IPTV applications), 32 tunnels of Hardware Based VPN, and supports 2 x FXS and 1 x FXO ports for VoIP.

And last but not least, this model has 802.11n Draft 2.0 technology, with up to 300Mbps throughput and four SSIDs (service set identifiers) for more flexible wireless grouping.
